Universal Lie

All I wanted was green and a perfect home Put some people there Leave them on their own to live And love, to learn and teach, to sing and play and to grow What I got in return is a soiled mess Full of broken souls Never moving past the fear The greed, the hate, the need, this crazy circus show They struggle in the darkness as they cry I don't know how to make it better I'm feeling hopeless too I guess I should expose the universal lie Are they talking to me cause I have my doubts That they understand I only wanted them to feel To fly, to dream, to try to solve the mysteries of life Don't they see who they are, what they're moving toward Like a waterfall Crashing on the rocks They run, they hide, they waste the magic moments of their lives They question me to death. I wonder why They think that I have all the answers There's nothing I can do Except of course expose the universal lie They look to me and ask me to forgive them It'd break their hearts to know I'm useless I need forgiveness too For hiding far behind this universal lie
