Privacy and cookies

Short version: the individual song pages count visits and link clicks so Fugdale can tell which songs and ads are working. They do that only if you say yes, and they never record your name, your email address, or anything you type into a form. Every other page, including the home page and its music and video players, runs no analytics at all.

What happens before you choose

Nothing. On a song page, no analytics or advertising tool is loaded and no tracking cookie is set until you press Accept. If you press Decline, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, they stay off.

One small thing happens before you choose: if you arrive from an ad, the campaign tags in the address (the parts that start with utm_) are kept in your browser for the length of your visit, so the campaign can be credited if you accept a page or two later. They are deleted if you decline, and they are not sent anywhere until you accept.

What is measured if you accept

Two tools run: Google Analytics 4 and the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel. Between them they receive:

  • That a page was viewed, which page, and the campaign tags from the address if you came from an ad. Google is sent only the page and those campaign tags. The Meta Pixel sees the page address as your browser shows it, which on this site never contains personal details: the forms send what you type separately, not in the address.
  • When you press a streaming or purchase button on a song page, which song and which service (for example, a song name and "spotify").
  • Ordinary technical details your browser sends with any request, such as your device type, browser, approximate location and IP address, which Google and Meta handle under their own policies.

They do not receive your name, your email address, or anything you enter in the contact or mailing list forms. Those forms are sent to the site's host, Netlify, not to either analytics tool, and are used only to reply to you or send the updates you asked for. Page titles are fixed song and album names. Advanced matching, automatic form capture and automatic event detection are turned off in the Meta Pixel.

Google Analytics is set to keep event data for 14 months, with Google signals and ad personalization off. The Meta Pixel is used to measure the results of Fugdale's own ads, and Meta may use what it receives as described in its own privacy policy.

Cookies and storage

  • fugdale-consent, in your browser's local storage: remembers your choice. Always set once you choose.
  • fugdale-attr, in session storage: the campaign tags described above. Cleared when you close the tab or decline.
  • _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, from Google Analytics, only after you accept. They recognise your browser across visits; Google's default is up to two years.
  • _fbp and, if you arrived from a Meta ad,_fbc, from the Meta Pixel, only after you accept. Meta's default for _fbp is about 90 days.

Changing your mind

Use "Cookie settings" in the footer of any song page to accept or decline again. Declining after accepting stops further measurement, revokes consent for Meta, and deletes the Google and Meta cookies above. It applies to your other open tabs too. Past data already received by Google or Meta stays under their retention rules; to ask about it, use the contact form on the home page.

Players and links

Your choice here only concerns analytics on the song pages. It does not switch the music and video players on or off. Those players (Bandcamp and YouTube on the home page, YouTube on one song page) are ordinary embeds: they load from those services, which may set their own cookies under their own policies. If your browser blocks third-party cookies, the Bandcamp player may show an error instead of loading; the Bandcamp link beside it still works. The streaming and purchase buttons are ordinary links to other sites, such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, SoundCloud and Bandcamp. Once you are there, their own policies apply, and Fugdale does not see what you do.
