Don’t Mean to Burst Your Bubble

  • Difficulty: Medium-Hard
  • Replay Value: Progressive
  • Controls: Mouse
Object: Spin your Globz to destroy all balloons on each course.

Review: This game provides a really unique mechanism, which I haven’t seen in any other online game before. The concept has a similar feel to other progressive puzzlers. You must make your way through a series of increasingly difficult courses and pop all the balloons you find. You accomplish this feat by maneuvering two little smiley faces called Globz. The two faces are joined together by a string. When you click the mouse one of the Globz anchors itself to the ground and the other one spins around it. You wait for the spinning glob to aim the direction you want to travel and hit the mouse button again. It then anchors itself and spins the other Globz. You have a red and a yellow glob and each of them can pop the blue balloons, but you must also pop multi-layered balloons and each Globz can only pop a layer of it’s own color.

You will soon discover that many of the walls on the courses are secret passageways to other areas of the course and you will also discover hidden bonus hearts and other obstacles and traps as the levels progress. The game play is unique and fun, but the fact that you must pop all balloons in under a minute on each course can make for some frustrating and frantic gameplay.

This game is simple and effective and a lot of fun. But don’t get on my case if it bursts your bubble.

Warning: Labels May Stick

warning sign

Nutshell: Design your own warning or safety labels at this fun little site.

Review: Click on the type of label you would like to design, then add a symbol from one of the many available, type your warning text and click the ‘create label’ button and this site will generate a downloadable label for you to keep.

You can have hours of fun making signs and labels for your dorm room “Smoke Dope Only in Non-Flammable Areas” or your bar “Warning: No Vodka Martinis Allowed!” or for your kid’s bedroom doors “Security Notice: No one over 14 allowed without a hall pass.” The applications are endless.

Since you can type whatever text you like, this site has zillions of applications. But if you want a little more fun, make sure you check out the other iterations of this site by the same creator, JJ Chandler. Those include: Warning Sign Generator, Tombstone Generator and Street Sign Generator.

Sketch and Build for Fun

Sketch

Nutshell: Everything you draw on the screen turns into a mechanical jointed piece and falls to the ground

Review: This site is a work in progress. As it develops it promises to be a fun online toy to play around with. It currently doesn’t even have a working title, so I am calling it Sketch. Basically, the premise is pretty simple. You draw a shape or line with your cursor and as soon as you release the mouse, your drawing transforms into a weighted, jointed figure and falls to the bottom of the screen. It reacts like a series of attached sticks might react when dropped from a height. The objects have a certain physics applied to them and the more you draw, the more the objects pile up. Use the space bar to clear the screen.

The concept is more difficult to explain than to just see it in action. Try it out. I can’t wait to see what new features the designer adds to the application in the future, but for now, it is a pretty interesting drawing program which allows you to play around with your sketches after you make them.
