Calling all you word processors and secretaries out there! Stop working for a few minutes and test your typing skills on these two typing based tests. Find out how fast and accurately you really type.

See How Fast You Can Type - Type Like a Mother

Type TestThis very simple typing test features a quote from a piece of literature (ie: The Great Gatsby). Click in the form and start typing the quote as quickly as you can. If you make a mistake the test will tell you in red lettering below. You must correct the mistake and continue until you have finished typing the quote. You will then receive your words per minute and total number of errors in a pop up window. Each time you take the test, the quote will change. Great little application for a quick typing test.

Although it serves its purpose in testing your typing skills, the interface doesn’t have much to it. But you might still find it useful or enjoyable to come back to now and then.

Fingerjig - Graphical Typing Game

FingerjigThis typing-based game has a little more punch to it than the previous application. In this game you wrack up points for how quickly and accurately you type the words displayed on the screen.

In each level, a word will appear and you must type it as quickly as possible. As you type, each letter will fall away from the word and float off the screen like a ghostly movie title. This effect provides a smooth interesting effect and sometimes serves to confuse you slightly about what you’ve typed. If you type a wrong letter it will turn gray and you must type it correctly to progress.

You will proceed through several different levels. The early levels give you short, yet uncommon words like ’shrod’ and ‘lariat’. One level just spits out single letters one at a time. Later levels involve typing words using just your right or left hand such as ‘jolly’ or ‘carcase’. And finally you will have to face extremely long and technical words like ‘pseudoinstruction’ or ‘antivivisectionist’, which will really put your spelling skills to the test as well. After each level you will see your net words per minute and gross words per minute and your longest string of correct letters in a row.

After the game puts you through the wringer, you will see your score and have the chance to submit it to the leaderboard. This simply addictive typing game has a visual appeal and responsiveness making it a pleasure to play.
