Object: Rotate the course to get the ball to reach its goal.

Review: This game of skill presents you with 24 progressively more difficult obstacle courses to work your way through. You must move your ball through each course by turning the entire course clockwise or counter-clockwise. Gravity pulls the ball downward on the screen and propels your ball onward. Watch out for menacing spikes, flames and other obstacles which line the walls of most courses.

The game does a great job of giving you pointers on how to advance past certain types of obstacles and the first 10 courses will move along pretty nicely, but then things get increasingly more difficult and this game may have you pulling your hair out. It even warns that it won’t be responsible for manaical homicidal tendancies resulting from frustration. I imagine that the game won’t have you actually killing people, but it does present quite a challenge. Luckily it will save your progress automatically, so you can come back when you have cooled down a bit.

The mechanics of the game feels smooth and responsive and the challenges seem surmountable eventually, but I dare say most players won’t be able to reach the end in one sitting. This game has similar physics to games such as Wone and Everybody Panic both reviewed previously on this blog.

I just love these physics-based obstacle course games and I hope to see more versions on the theme in the future. For now, this game will give you plenty of game-playing pleasure and will turn your world upside down.

Hang the Undead for Halloween

Object: Avoid hanging the sarcastic skeleton by choosing the correct letters in a mystery word.

Review: You’ve all done it! You’ve murdered the innocent. You killed some poor, defenseless stick figure playing hangman as a child. You guessed the wrong letter too many times and you hung an innocent man. But, have you hung a skeleton? Why not give it a shot?

Even if you do manage to save the skeleton, by guessing the correct word, he won’t greet you with much enthusiasm. You might feel lucky to get a mild “whoppee” out of his sarcastic mouth. If you guess letters wrong, the skeleton wryly suggests you ask Vanna for a vowel or if you’ve ever heard of a dictionary. His cuteness wears off after a few attempts at new games, almost to the point where you want to guess incorrectly just to see what happens when he swings from the gallows.

This hauntingly cute version of a timeless classic game plays just like any other version of hangman, but it throws in a good theme for the Halloween holiday and a bit of humor to boot.

Catch a Falling Star and Put it in Your Pocket

  • Replay Value: Good
  • Controls: Mouse
Object: Catch as many stars as you can in one minute.
Review: Ferry Halim has designed many beautiful and very creative flash games on his site Orisinal. This game is no exception. Here Ferry shows us a lovely calm night scene on the beach. You control a young girl walking along the beach. When you hold the mouse button down a meter appears above her head. When it reaches the top, you release the button and the girl will jump as high as the meter indicates. When she falls to the ground, her relection bounces up into the sky and catches stars. When she has become airborne you can move the girl around to catch even more stars. If you time your jump just right, you can catch bonus falling stars worth a bunch of extra points.

A timer counts down from 60 to 0 and you should try to catch as many stars as you can in that time. But the timer won’t make you feel pressured. Like so many of Halim’s games, the lovely artwork and soothing soundtrack will keep you peacful and happy during the short play period. This game provides little more than a minute of star-collecting fun. Younger kids and adults alike should enjoy playing this and many of Ferry Halim’s other games.

If you enjoy this game, check out our prior review of Ferry Halim’s game: The Crossing
