Snakes on a Game - 2 Fun Snake Games

  • Controls: Mouse & Keys
Object: Collect snowflakes to make your snake grow while avoiding or eliminating enemies.
Review: In this game you play as a snake or sperm-like creature. You have a springy tail with a few armored segments. Move your snake through the primordial soupy play-field collecting snowflakes with your head. As you do, your snake meter at the bottom of the screen will start to light up. When it is full you move to the next level.

As you collect the snowflakes, you must also avoid touching them with any portion of your tail or you will start to lose your armored segments. For every 10 snowflakes you collect you will get a bonus multiplier which will repair damaged segments. Additionally, you are faced with an increasing number of various enemies. Some will attach themselves to your tail to eat segments, others will warp unexpectedly to hit you, and some just get in your way.

But after each level, you will earn evo points which allow you to evolve. Spend your evo points to change certain parameters. Add to your speed or agility, armor your tail segments or increase your attack strength. As you play, you will also discover special weapons. Using various keys on your keyboard you can activate weapons like a zapper which will eliminate all enemies on the screen or a retractor, which will bunch your tail up close to your head to avoid enemies. At times you can gain invincibility or arm your tail segments with blades to mow the baddies down.

As the game progresses, you will discover many new and unique ways to collect your food and destroy the undesirable foes. Game play is very responsive. Your snake darts about the screen with precision. Enemies can quickly mount and those lighting zappers come in handy. The game doesn’t seem to save your progress, so stick with it as long as you can hold on. The design of this game has a very nice flow to it.

Object: Collect all the food particles without touching the walls or your own tail.
Review: In this snake game your task is to collect the various food pellets scattered about the screen. Each time you eat a morsel, your tail length will increase by one segment. You must collect a certain number to advance to the next level, which you can set in the options (I recommend starting with just 10). Along the way, you can’t touch the walls, obstacles, nor any portion of your own tail.

After you collect the predetermined number of particles, you will advance to the next of 50 different levels. Each level has increasing difficulty with walls and other obstacles introduced. The mouse controls all movement in the game and the snake has a fairly responsive feel to it. You can adjust the speed of your snake in the options and you can choose from about 80 different skins for your snake.

I found the game fun to play, but the snake tends to easily flip a u-turn and run into its own tail if you try to take a quick change of direction. Because the food pellets often show up in the corners of the screen or along the edges, you will find yourself having to make quick turns to avoid hitting obstacles. The bouncy music keeps the game lively. I have only had success advancing through the game so far by playing on slow speed with 10 segments required. More than that and your snake gets so long you almost always hit your own tail.

But I’m sure advanced gamers will enjoy the challenge of adding more segments and moving through the challenging levels. This game reminds me a bit of the arcade classic Centipede, although in this game you play as the centipede and no one shoots at you.
